Street Talk

What is It?

Street Talk is the New Zealand Transport Agency developed and approved course of advanced driving skills to reduce the restricted licence period by 6 months for the under 25 year old driver, and 3 months for those over 25 years old. 
By completing a Street Talk course will mean you can reduce the minimum age for a full licence from 18years to 17½. years
You can do the Street Talk course once you have obtained your learners licence or Restricted licence.
Courses require a minimum of 4 students if this requirement is not met then the course will be rescheduled for the following month.

When can I do this course?

Once you have obtained your Learners licence you are eligible to enrol in a Street Talk course
Courses are scheduled over Four (4) nights. 6pm to 8pm
Courses are design to have a minimum of 4 students if they don't met that criteria then they will be rescheduled foor the following month.

What does it cost?

This course costs $215 including GST

What will I need?

You will need to hold as a minimum a Learners licence.
This course is NZTA approved for the Graduated Driver Licencing system for cars and motorcycles.

We will supply all other material

Course Outline

Duration: four - two-hour sessions. Then a 1 hour practical.

Street Talk is mainly classroom based.
The 4, 2 hour sessions are theory.
There is a one-hour practical session at the completion of the course, which is preparation for the Full Licence test. 

The theory component of the course encourages you to consider; risk perception, risk management, self- reflection, decision making, goal setting and monitoring.

NOTE:
Street Talk graduates can also be credited with Unit Standard 3464 on the NZQA qualifications framework.
By sitting the Street Talk course only you don't gain 3464. If you are wanting to gain 3464 then you will be required to complete a further theory assessment and you must request this prior to commencement of the course.
